Nominations Open: Canada Volunteer Awards 2024

Did you hear about Canada’s Volunteer Awards’ (CVA) 2023 recipients? Rahul Singh has combined frontline experience with humanitarian work to provide efficient disaster relief operations for over 25 years through the foundation he created.  Angela Woodford has offered support to her community for over 60 years. Justin Langan serves on several youth councils and committees and represents Métis youth.  Wow! These are just a few examples of the volunteers recognized for their service in 2023. Do you know a volunteer with an inspiring story? Canada's Volunteer Awards is still  accepting nominations from across Canada until June 12, 2024. For individuals, there are three categories of awards: 

• The Emerging Leader for youth between the ages of 18 and 30, 
• The Community Leader for individual volunteers of all ages, and 
• The Thérèse Casgrain Lifelong Achievement Award, a national award for volunteers with twenty or more years serving their community. 

To recognize the spirit of volunteering in organizations there are two categories:  

• The Social Innovator category is for not-for-profit organizations and social enterprises, while  
• The Business Leader category celebrates social responsibility demonstrated by businesses and social enterprises.

Canada’s Volunteer Awards is a comprehensive volunteer recognition program. Award recipients can choose a not-for-profit organization to receive a $5,000 (regional award) or $10,000 (national award) grant. Recipients are also invited to participate in a facilitated discussion with their fellow recipients regarding their experiences and best practices. This is a fantastic opportunity for making connections with like-minded people and organizations.
