Charity Exemption from Mastercard Subscription Billing Rules

We are happy to share that Mastercard has officially provided an exemption to nonprofits from the subscription billing rules. The new subscription billing rules will only apply to a nonprofit merchant who experiences a high volume of chargebacks and is listed for at least four months on the Mastercard Acquirer Chargeback Monitoring Program (ACMP).

Given our eligibility for the exemption, and to maximize monthly donations, CanadaHelps will not make changes to the notifications we provide to monthly donors.

Chargebacks for charitable donations are historically very low. Should a charity using the CanadaHelps Donor Management System be listed on the Mastercard ACMP based on their use of a third-party credit card processor such as iATS for offline donations, they are asked to contact info@CanadaHelps.org for assistance.
